SIP - A Ceramic Cup Show Opening

  • Non-Fiction Gallery 1522 Bull Street Savannah, GA, 31401 United States (map)

SIP is an exhibition celebrating the ceramic arts, and an extraordinary display of the often overlooked cup.

SIP: A Ceramic Cup Show at Non-Fiction Gallery 1522 Bull St., is Savannah Clay Community’s 2nd annual national exhibition featuring over 200 functional ceramic mugs, yunomi and more from clay artists across the country. It shows the diversity of drinking vessels as an art form and allows visitors to become owners of hand-crafted ceramics. All cup sales benefit each artist, and a percentage of proceeds will be donated to the Emmaus House to help provide nourishment for the hungry in Savannah.

Each vessel in the show will be placed on its own individual shelf on the wall, crediting each piece for what it is–a work of fine art. During the closing reception, we will take the ceramics from the wall into the hands of the viewer to allow the customer to experience the functional aspect of the pieces. That night, all those who purchase cups or mugs will be able to use them to sip tasty beverages and then take the pieces home.

Savannah Clay Community is a newly formed organization that builds strength and support for all ceramicists within Savannah by encouraging the promotion, growth and education of the ceramic arts. It recognizes and aids the development of emerging and established ceramicists in Savannah and encourage the local creative economy to give artists more opportunities to earn income from their artwork.
