Join us for the Reception of "Transience" by Bryce Lankard on Thursday, August 15th 2019, at In Vino Veritas. Time does not stand still, although photography has the capacity to create just such an illusion. The work in "Transience" focuses on the randomness and impermanence of elements in motion, from objects moving through space to shifts of light as seen from a stationary point on a spinning planet. Drawing from the aesthetic of wabi sabi, which emphasizes the beauty of imperfection and the transience of time, these images reflect the rhythms of our world unfolding through sequencing, layering or mirroring.
Bryce Lankard has been immersed in photography his entire adult life. As an editorial and fine art photographer, as an Art Director, Photo Editor, Educator, Curator and Principal Photographer, from New Orleans to New York City and back to North Carolina. He was a co-founder and creative director of the award winning Tribe Magazine in New Orleans and following Hurricane Katrina he co-founded the non-profit New Orleans Photo Alliance. He is a co-founder and the executive director of the Click! Photography Festival and a veteran instructor at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University.
"Transience" is on display from July 23rd – September 10th 2019 and may be seen during In Vino Veritas’ regular open hours or 24/7 via our website. This exhibition is presented by Sulfur Art Services, a project of Sulfur Studios, which pairs local artists with local businesses, including the Sentient Bean, Starland Café, and In Vino Veritas. All work is available for purchase via our website: http://sulfurstudios.org/art-services-overview/
